A child’s mind and behaviour are different from that of a mature person. So, you need to be careful when you’re dealing with a child. You must try to understand how he/she behaves in certain areas or when something is said. As a grown-up, we use different techniques to concentrate on something we need, but it becomes difficult for a child to focus. The problem of low concentration happens primarily because of their natural exuberance and high level of curiosity. However, as they grow, they will need to focus on their studies and other essentials activities. You can adopt various strategies and find out which works best to improve concentration in kids.
Now, let’s try to understand the signs that associate with low concentration in children:
● A child can find it difficult to concentrate when he lacks interest in whatever he’s doing.
● Zoning out frequently and starting to fidget will in turn make him uninterested in his tasks.
● Daydreaming when doing a task.
● Jumping from one subject to another.
By now, you would have been able to understand if your child is facing any concentration issues. Here are some techniques by which we could help them
To help them concentrate on their studies, they need to be fed well and healthy. The healthier they eat, the more concentrated and active they will be. That doesn’t mean you must let them have only healthy food, just find a balance between snacks and nutritious food to keep them interested in eating.
Since children are likely to learn better through games, it would be a good idea to focus on their studies by asking them to participate in games that would increase their concentration, through puzzles, memory games, sequence games, tongue twisters, etc. These games can help improve concentration in kids.
Some children might study well in a soft, soothing environment, while some might concentrate in a busy environment. Understanding what kind of environment your child is comfortable with will let you know what is needed to focus on studies. You can also help out by placing things your child might need, like their books, pencil case, geometry boxes, etc, within reach. This ensures your little one does not waste time looking for them. Understanding the environment your child prefers to study in is the first step you need to take care.

It is vital to maintain a schedule to improve concentration in kids. Having a routine will only increase the child’s focus. This method will not only help the child manage his/her time, but they will also know what and when they have to study.
Children best concentrate when they have taken a 20 minutes power nap after they come home from school or in the afternoon. However, avoid frequent snack and bathroom breaks while studying to disturb the child’s concentration.
Breaking a more significant task into smaller ones can help children ease their work and concentrate on their studies. For instance, if your child feels like an answer is too long, break them into small paragraphs. This will make them feel a sense of accomplishment, and it will motivate them to continue more.
Children can improve their concentration if parents are consistent in asking their child to study. And this can also strengthen your relationship with your children.
